Colin Clive

Colin Clive (20 January 1900 - 25 June 1937)British Stage and screen actor most famous for portraying Dr Frankenstein in James Whale's two universal Frankenstein films Frankenstein (1930) and Bride of Frankenstein (1931).

Clive was born in France to a British colonel, and was in the military before he became a stage actor. He first worked with Whale on a production about the horrors of trench warfare and subsequently joined the British community in Hollywood in the 1930s.

He suffered chronic alcoholism and died of tuberculosis in 1937.
