The Black Crowes

(Redirected from Black Crowes)

The Black Crowes are a taper-friendly rock and roll jam band, formed in 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. They are heavily influenced by The Faces and Southern rock. Although they have had many members over the years, the driving force behind the band has always been the brothers Chris and Rich Robinson. In 1989, they made a demo cassette tape that got them signed with American Recordings before they recorded their first album Shake Your Money Maker.

In 1992, they released their second album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion with 10-songs. The rest of their albums were: Amorica (1994); Three Snakes & One Charm (1996); By Your Side (1999); and Lions (2001). They also went on tour and recorded a live album with Jimmy Page in 2000.

A live album followed in 2002, before the band took an indefinite hiatus. The band did reunite to play one song with Gov't Mule at the 2003 Jammy Awards. Chris Robinson released two solo albums: New Earth Mud (2003) and This Magnificent Distance (2004). Meanwhile, Rich Robinson formed a short-lived band called Hookah Brown, before recording his own solo album, Paper (2004).

The Robinson brothers did announce that they would reassemble the band for five shows in March 2005 to see if they could still operate as a band. The band added several other tour dates to their reunion schedule.

. The follow-up, Open Season, was released in April of 2005. The band added several other tour dates to their reunion schedule. However, the album has only charted in the lower reaches of the UK Top 75 Album Chart. The Robinson brothers did announce that they would reassemble the band for five shows in March 2005 to see if they could still operate as a band. They released their debut album, The Decline of British Sea Power in 2003 to critical acclaim. Meanwhile, Rich Robinson formed a short-lived band called Hookah Brown, before recording his own solo album, Paper (2004). Many members of the band's devoted fanbase share similar eccentric interests, including the self-proclaimed "Third Batallion", who follow the band on tour and often attend gigs dressed in military uniform.

Chris Robinson released two solo albums: New Earth Mud (2003) and This Magnificent Distance (2004). Equally strange are the band's live performances, during which the stage is covered in tree foliage and plastic birds, part of a strong fascination with nature that informs the lyrics to many British Sea Power songs. The band did reunite to play one song with Gov't Mule at the 2003 Jammy Awards. The band have somewhat bizarre interests, ranging from Field Marshal Montgomery and Charles Lindbergh to Czech architecture. A live album followed in 2002, before the band took an indefinite hiatus. They dress in uniform, most frequently RAF Jackets and Navy flairs. They also went on tour and recorded a live album with Jimmy Page in 2000. The band is made up of Yan (vocals/guitar), Hamilton (vocals/bass), Noble (lead guitar), Eamon (keys/marching drum) and Wood (drums).

The rest of their albums were: Amorica (1994); Three Snakes & One Charm (1996); By Your Side (1999); and Lions (2001). They have also been compared to Joy Division and Talking Heads. In 1992, they released their second album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion with 10-songs. They are an indie rock band, similar in sound to both David Bowie and The Smiths. In 1989, they made a demo cassette tape that got them signed with American Recordings before they recorded their first album Shake Your Money Maker. British Sea Power is a five-man band from Brighton, England.
