Barbara Eden

Barbara Eden (born Barbara Jean Moorhead in Tucson, Arizona on August 23, 1934) is an American actress.

Eden made her film debut in Back from Eternity (1956), and the following year starred in the television series How to Marry a Millionaire, playing the role Marilyn Monroe had played in the film version. Eden had a notable part in Flaming Star (1960) an Elvis Presley movie. The following year, she starred in a supporting role as Lt. Cathy Connors in Irwin Allen's Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, one of many much successful Sci-Fi Fantasy outings by "The Master of Disaster". She played supporting roles in films over the next few years before being signed to play the character of Jeannie in the television series I Dream of Jeannie, opposite Larry Hagman. The show proved to be a huge success, running from 1965 until 1970 and during this time Eden was nominated twice for Golden Globe Awards. She appeared regularly on television after the series was cancelled and starred in the feature film Harper Valley P.T.A. based on the popular country and western song. This led to a Harper Valley P.T.A. series in 1981.

Barbara Eden has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to television at 2003 Hollywood Boulevard. Garner died from pancreatic cancer. This led to a Harper Valley P.T.A. series in 1981. Her final screen performance was a small part in a made for television feature in 1980. She appeared regularly on television after the series was cancelled and starred in the feature film Harper Valley P.T.A. based on the popular country and western song. After her film career ended, she ventured into stage acting and had some success, but also worked as a real estate agent between acting jobs in order to support herself. The show proved to be a huge success, running from 1965 until 1970 and during this time Eden was nominated twice for Golden Globe Awards. Like many child performers, Garner was unable to make a successful transition into adult roles, although she did receive several supporting roles in films during the early 1950s.

She played supporting roles in films over the next few years before being signed to play the character of Jeannie in the television series I Dream of Jeannie, opposite Larry Hagman. She reached the height of her success at the age of 13 in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945) winning an Academy Juvenile Award largely on the basis of this performance.
