Singles. Avant-Guide, a travel guidebook series. Albums. The word "avant" by itself comes from the French "advanced" or "forward." The concept was adopted in English as a metaphor for the work done by small bands of intellectuals and artists as they open pathways through new cultural or political terrain, for the mass of society to follow. The group has not performed publically since November 9, 2002, when they played a gig in Utrecht. Avant Guide, derived from the French term avant-garde, is often used to refer to people or actions that lead other people to experiences that are novel or experimental, particularly with respect to the arts and culture. The band is often seen as a one hit wonder due to this.

Later singles off the album failed to do so well, except in the UK where they all entered the top 20. The groups first, and to date only album, Who Needs Guitars Anyway? was released on April 11, 2000, and the first single off the album Better Off Alone charted highly in many countries across Europe. At the age of 18, she began working in the nightclubs of Amsterdam. Trained in ballet from the age of 6, Pronk trained to the level of teacher, but did not take it up as a career path.
