Reiser has written two books: Couplehood, about the ups and downs of being in a committed relationship, and Babyhood, about the toils and joys of having a baby. Played semi-pro soccer and is still a soccer fan. Reiser married Paula Ravets in 1988; they have one son together, Ezra (born 1995). He has studied Martial Arts for 7 years including: Kung Fu forms Choy Li Fut and Hung Gar, Tae Kwon Do, and boxing; Has also done extensive sword training with the Japanese Katana. He was active in campus theater productions, but it was during the summers between college, when he performed in New York City comedy clubs, that he found his calling. He was divorced from Meilani Paul in 1997. Reiser graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York City and earned his bachelor's degree at Binghamton University, where he majored in music (piano, composition).

In 2001, starred in new series: Tracker. Reiser and Baker performed the song together while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, with Reiser accompanying the songstress on the piano. He also starred in the spin-off movie, Highlander: Endgame. The most famous version of the song is the one recorded by Anita Baker prior to the 1997 season. In 1992, he was cast in the role that would bring him to the most prominence to date, that of Duncan MacLeod in the syndicated series Highlander. Reiser co-wrote Mad About You's theme song, entitled "Final Frontier", with Don Was. He appeared in a regular role in the second season of the television series War of the Worlds, three episodes of Dark Shadows (1991) as Jeremiah Collins, and made a pilot for CBS Television for a series called The Owl (1991). The show was so successful that, in the final 1999 season, he and Hunt were paid $1 million per episode for the show.

Just recently finished filming: Paper, Scissors, Stone which is schedule for release in 2003. Despite enjoying a somewhat successful film career—most notably in James Cameron's 1986 Aliens, as a treacherous company executive—Reiser is most well-known for his role in Mad About You, a long running sit-com co-starring Helen Hunt. Other movies which he has starred or co-starred: Dance to Win (1989), Love Potion #9 (1992) as Enrico Pazzoli, Dead Men Can't Dance (1997), Susan's Plan (also known as Dying to Get Rich) (1998), Merlin: The Return (1999) played Lancelot, Convergence remade Premonition (1999), The Void (2001), The Breed (2001), and Code Hunter (2002). Reiser's TV credits include My Two Dads and an acclaimed performance in the British TV drama My Beautiful Son. Movie Roles: first film appearance was in the 1989 film Last Rites with starred Tom Beringer, starred in the remake of The Masque of the Red Death (1989), a re-telling of the Edgar Allan Poe tale. Though known mostly for his starring television roles, he started his career as a stand-up comedian. Made for TV movies: Shooter (1988) and The Cover Girl Murder (1993) which starred Lee Majors.
